2021 Michigan Celebrates Award

The Procurement Technical Assistance Center (PTAC) Best Small Business award, presented by the Michigan Economic Development Corporation, honored Ryba Marine Construction Co. at the 17th Annual Michigan Celebrates Small Business gala event in July.

The PTAC offices select a business they have worked with that has leveraged services to advance government contracting initiatives to receive the Best Small Business Award.  Ryba Marine demonstrated a positive impact and growth as a company as well as a strong relationship with the PTAC Organization.  To represent Michigan and its flourishing industries, companies like Ryba Marine Construction Co. are known for their ability to persevere through challenging times, their entrepreneurial drive and a hunger for innovation.

June 2014 – WEDA Environmental Excellence Award

WEDA Environmental Excellence Award

In June of 2014, Ryba Marine Construction Co. was awarded the WEDA Environmental Excellence Award, Environmental Dredging category, for its role on the Sheboygan River, WI Remediation project. A Multi-Stakeholder collaboration, simultaneous execution of multiple projects in the same area, technological innovation, and habitat restoration.

In a project requiring a high level of collaboration due to the other multiple ongoing projects, the successful removal of  147,500 cubic yards of contaminated sediment and placement of a residual sand cover over 9 acres greatly contributed to the program objectives. This project had one ultimate goal—to clean up the Sheboygan River with the support and involvement of the public. The collaboration and coordination efforts of the project stakeholders, contractors, and subcontractors delivered a successful project, completing work ahead of schedule and under budget.

February 2014 – Ryba Marine Awarded Cheboygan Chamber of Commerce Business of the Year

The Cheboygan Area Chamber of Commerce awards a business of the year award to a deserving business who has exhibited professional excellence with their area of expertise as well as leadership within the community.  


November 2013 – Ryba Marine earns ENR Midwest’s Best Projects 2013 Award

ENR Midwest’s Best Projects 2013 Award

Chicago November 22nd, 2013:  Ryba Marine Construction Company and Terra Contracting were honored and awarded the prestigious Engineering News Record (ENR) Midwest Best Projects 2013 Award for the Water/Environment category for their clean up and restoration of the Sheboygan River Area of Concern, Great Lakes Legacy Act – Sediment  Remediation Project.


August 2011 – Ryba Marine Construction Co. – Terra Contracting, LLC Joint Venture Awarded EPA Contract

During the first several months of 2011, Ryba Marine Construction Co. and Terra Contracting, LLC out of Kalamazoo, MI secured a joint venture opportunity. The goal was for two small businesses to provide a complete package to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, Great Lakes National Program Office, Cleanup Services Solicitation. In August 2011, this joint venture was awarded a 3 year base contract with 4 possible option years, with a maximum total of $150 Million.


June 2011 – WEDA Environmental Excellence Award

In June of 2011, Ryba Marine Construction Co. was awarded the WEDA Environmental Excellence Award, Environmental Dredging category, for its role on the Kinnickinnic River Remediation project.

This project was selected for the award for the successful dredging of PCB and PAH contaminated sediments from Milwaukee, Wisconsin’s Kinnickinnic River. This work contributed to the removal of restrictions on fish and wildlife consumption, and achieved the project’s goal of cleaning up the river with the support and involvement of the public. The project is a model for multi-stakeholder collaboration, technical innovation, workforce development, and waterfront revitalization.


June – 2010 World Dredging Magazine Cover Story – Vol. 45 No’s. 7/8

Ryba Marine Construction Co. was highlighted on the cover of World Dredging Magazine and was the focus of a cover story for the successful environmental dredging of 167,000 cy of PAH and PCB contaminated sediments on the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, Great Lakes Legacy Act Project, Kinnickinnic River, Milwaukee, Wisconsin.


May – 2010 Michigan 50 Companies to Watch

Ryba Marine Construction Co. received a Certificate of Tribute and was honored for exemplifying the entrepreneurial spirit and determination to transform our economy by transcending the challenges facing our nation and preserving a high quality of life for the residents of this state. Those being named as one of the Michigan 50 Companies to Watch are remarkable for their intent and capacity for growth, entrepreneurial leadership, creation of innovation, environmentally conscious practices, philanthropic actions, high performance in competitive environments, outstanding employee relations and creative marketing.


May – 2004 Best Small Business from Region 3

The award given by the Michigan Small Business & Technology Center chose Ryba Marine Construction Co. on the basis of its success in terms of sales, employment and business strategy, as well as the company’s economic impact. Fourteen companies from across the state were honored. The companies were selected from among 8,000 Michigan companies.


March – 2003 Civil Works Construction Contractor of the Year

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers awarded Ryba Marine Construction Co. the Civil Works Construction Contractor of the Year award for 2002. Several companies from the immense Great Lakes & Ohio River Division were nominated for this award. Ryba Marine was chosen because of the outstanding work they did repairing the East and West Pier at Ontonagon Harbor, Michigan. Ryba Marine was recognized for its outstanding quality control, for completing the contract six months ahead of schedule, timely submission of payrolls, safety and many other favorable remarks. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers also commented, “All employees involved in the project were highly professional, timely, and courteous in manner. All employees involved in the project were highly skilled, conscientious, and safety minded resulting in a high quality project brought to completion ahead of schedule, on budget.” The prestigious Civil Works Construction Contractor of the Year is the highest award that a contractor can receive from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.
